SIRENSOUND Digital UK Limited

offers a range of audio services including recording and production, multitrack recording with an acoustically controlled recording room, excellent microphones and headphones, perfect for audiobooks and voiceover or adding anything to a multitrack project already started or start your own record here with the experienced engineer/producer Paul Turney

For multitrack recording sirensound use the Sony 3348HR to preserve the feel and the experience of machine controlled recording as it was during the transition from multitrack analogue to digital in the 1990s. Why? Well, to start with, because we can, the 48 channel digital open reel recorder was the pinnacle of multitrack recording before the advent of protools and other digitial recording systems with the added facility of transferring the contents on tape to a DAW for editing and using the tape process to get around latency in digital systems.

It naturally follows that the Sony 3348HR is also used for archiving DASH recordings without the need to go through an analogue stage, everything is kept in the digital domain throughout the process. No added artefacts that make the original sound corrupted and differing from the original.

Audiobook and Voiceover Production Experience
We specialize in professional voice and audiobook recording.
Over the years since I set up to work on British Library Sound Archives in Y2k I've been getting enquiries from media companies who wish to record a voice in our area without the talent having to travel into London or Manchester to have their voice recorded. I've said yes to all these enquiries, from Countryfile on the BBC to voice over for cooking programmes in America. To cater for local voices I purposely built an acoustic room with full comms to the control room to facilitate this service at considerable cost with high quality audio production in mind. The summerhouse was born with the finest materials and has welcomed authors, actors, journalists, singers, musicians, mechanics and the odd barbeque party in the summer! With acoustic treatment to reduce the 'sound' of a room to a series of patch-bays designed for both analogue and digital recording with full digital clocking to eliminate clicks and noise in the digital stream. None of this is obvious to the visitor with discrete placement of panels and it has an open light feel with underfloor heating for when the temperature drops.
Voiceover artists can arrive and start immediately. These are recorded direct to DAW as latency is not an issue in this field.
Our audiobooks have generally been read by talent brought in to read the story, chapter by chapter with editing performed after every session to remove any unwanted mouth and breath noises that may distract the listener over time. The completed assignment is collated according to Audible requirements and our client will take those files away and load them to Audible using their own account giving them full control over the outcome.James Fleming, Ian Flemings nephew did a successful reading of his own Bond Story here and asked me to compose a suitable Russian sounding piece of music to accompany the audiobook. You can hear the full reading and composition on Audible search: Bond: Behind the Iron Curtain, written and read by the late James Fleming or if you prefer Bond: Behind the Iron Curtain (copy and paste in a new browser)

The fatal helicopter crash on the Mull of Kintyre is the subject of another audiobook read by Niven Phoenix, son of the writer Susan Phoenix whose husband was aboard the grounded Chinook helicopter that lost control that fateful evening . Niven is an ex RAF pilot now more often found behind the controls of the Boeing Dreamliner. His late father, Ian Phoenix, was a high ranking policeman in the Northern Irish Police. : : Phoenix: Policing the Shadows : : is her story about the leadup and the aftermath of such a violent accident that may have been prevented: the story is full of humanity, love for a lost one, fact over fiction and the search for justice for the pilots and families who were caught up in this appalling tragedy.
